Available Dogs

Adopting a German Shepherd Dog is a serious commitment of up to 10-15 years. We're looking to find our dogs forever homes so their lives won't be disrupted again.

In general, we don't know the background or medical history of dogs we bring into our program, nor can we guarantee their temperaments, behaviors, or health. We base the information on each dog on observations made while the dog is in a foster home in our program.

Since not all homes are the same, dogs may display different behaviors after being adopted than what we've observed. Similarly, just because a dog has lived with or tested tolerant of cats or small dogs, does NOT mean it will automatically be tolerant of cats or small dogs in a new home. It may take time and supervision while the animals adjust.

All of our dogs are spayed or neutered as required of all California shelters and rescues by the California Food & Agriculture Code Section 30503. They are also current on all vaccines and microchipped.

Not all dogs will be at all adoption events. We don't reserve dogs for adoption by telehone or email. You MUST first submit an adoption application.

See me at the next Adoption Day!

Junior!!!  Due to an unfortunate change in family dynamic, Junior is being returned to GSGSR.  Junior was with our adopter for the past 6 years when he was adopted.    Junior is a male german shepherd dog, 86 lbs.  His birthday is February 1 and is now 6 years old.  But he still has a lot of playful puppy personality left in him.  He has been my dog since he was 8 weeks old. He is neutered. He is a great guard dog letting me know when anyone is walking in front of our house or walking up the driveway.  He is friendly and is excited to see me when I come home each night. He is outside during the day while I am at work and sleeps indoors at night. On days that the temperatures hit 101 or above, I leave him in the house with the AC on.  He can hold it until I get home (about 12 hours). I leave at 7:30 a.m. and return about 6 or 6:30 p.m. He is trained to potty outside and to let me know when he needs to go out. He does not chew on furniture. At the dog park, he gets along with all of the dogs and if there is a fight he has never been involved or even near the occurrence.  I like to say "he is a lover, not a fighter." Walking on a leash, when he sees a dog he wants to go play and gets very excited. I have to reel him in and remind him this is not the park More
