Ready for Adoption Added August 13, 2019
Beyla was an owner surrender to the shelter. It was said that she and her sister kept trying to escape. We have not observed these traits, but it looks like her sister has had some litters, so most likely they were just unwanted and surrendered. She is currently in foster with a male GSD mix and a child.
Beyla is very mellow, and so far seems to be potty trained. She is showing no signs of food guarding, no destructive chewing, & responds quickly to reprimands. She doesn’t nip or very mouthy, no excessive jumping up, (she rarely does that). She is very affectionate, and an excellent walker on leash. She is not an excessive barker, and practices a high level of avoidance when seeing other dogs on her walks. She is learning to play and chase balls in the yard and follows her foster mom from room to room. She is a counter surfer, but is responding well to the corrections for that.
Beyla does seem to be protective of her foster mom around the resident dog, if he wants to come to his mom. While she doesn't show any aggression towards him she does beeline for him and nips at him. This is something that we are working on.
It's a apparent that she had never been in a crate, so her fosters are working with her to be crate trained.
Beyla would be best in a home as a second dog or with someone who is home alot. She needs to be around other dogs in order for her to feel more confident.
